Marty Leenhouts was born and raised in Wisconsin and lived there through his college years. After graduation from college, he worked in industry for two years before returning to school to earn his master’s degree in education. He has taught for over 30 years in private schools in Wisconsin, South Dakota, internationally in Indonesia and online for 12 years. MyChipCarving.com is his online business where he instructs, inspires and equips chip carvers around the world. The business mascot and his Labradoodle companion is Chip. If you like dogs, you’ll enjoy meeting him during your retreat. In his spare time, he has created sculptures for MN sculpture walks and also enjoys working on his 1960 Ford Falcon.

Shelley Leenhouts was born in Toledo, Ohio, and grew up in Minnesota. For many years she was an at-home mom raising two children. She earned a degree in Elementary Education and has taught in Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota and Indonesia. She just recently retired from her job teaching employment skills for adults both at the Lincoln Community Center and at the BEC Jail in Mankato. She enjoys quilting, scrapbooking, watercolor painting, card making, and staying in touch with family and friends.
